You probably don't think of yourself as an influencer.
You're not creating brand deals. You're not filming “day in my life” videos. You're probably not walking around thinking about how many people are watching what you post.
But if you've ever posted your professional photos on social media, you are influencing someone.
And you might not even realize it.
Think about the last time you saw someone's photos online and thought:
I need pictures like this.
Maybe it was a beautiful senior session.
A family laughing together.
A maternity session with the most gorgeous light.
A wedding gallery that made you want to get married all over again.
You see the photos, you love them, and then comes the question:
“Who took these?”
That's where tagging your photographer becomes so important.
You're creating inspiration for someone else.
When you post your professional photos, you're not just sharing pictures of yourself.
You're showing someone else what is possible.
Someone scrolling through your Facebook or Instagram might see your photos and start imagining themselves in a session like yours.
They might love the location.
They might love the way you're posed.
They might love the editing.
They might love the entire feeling of the gallery.
And suddenly, you've inspired someone to book a session they may not have even been considering before.
You're influencing them.
But here's the part that matters: tag your photographer.
Last week, I had a client bring inspiration photos to her session.
She showed me the images she loved and said she wanted something similar.
I recognized the photos immediately.
They were mine.
But she had no idea.
The original client had posted the images without tagging me, so there was no way for her to know who had created them.
And that is exactly what can happen when photographers aren't tagged.
Someone can fall in love with your photos.
They can decide they want photos just like yours.
They can save the image as inspiration.
They can show it to their own photographer.
And yet, they may have absolutely no idea who took the original photos.
You don't have to become a full-blown influencer.
And don't worry, I'm not asking you to suddenly start writing promotional captions about your photographer.
You don't need to say:
“Everyone go book my photographer!”
You don't need to write a five-paragraph review.
You don't even have to mention your photographer in your caption.
Just tag them.
That's it.
When someone sees your photo and thinks, I want pictures like this, they can click the photographer's tag and find the person who created them.
You've just made it incredibly easy for your inspiration to become their reality.
Your photos have more reach than you think.
One of the coolest parts of being a photographer is watching an image travel beyond the original client.
A photo gets posted.
Someone's friend sees it.
Then their sister sees it.
Then someone from their hometown sees it.
Someone saves it.
Someone sends it to their fiancé.
Someone shows it to their mom.
And eventually, someone says:
“I need to book a photographer.”
That one photo can start a chain reaction.
And you, the person in the photograph, helped make that happen.
So the next time you post your professional photos, remember:
You're not just sharing your pictures. You're influencing someone else's vision of what they want for themselves.
And if you loved the photos enough to share them, give the person who created them a little credit by tagging them.
